A tabletop role-playing game with an AI Master

Sit by the fire. The Master is already spreading the map.

You play a hero, the Master runs the story, the server rolls the dice. A game takes half an hour right in your browser, and the first one needs no sign-up.

How a game goes

From the tavern to the ending in one evening

  1. Pick a story

The tavern has two shelves: the best by the fire and the stories other players wrote.

  2. Gather a party

Your hero and up to three companions. Amavie characters take the free seats.

  3. Act

With a button or in your own words. If there’s a roll, the Master asks first: “Got it right?”

  4. Roll the dice

The server rolls. You see the seed fingerprint when a session starts and the seed itself at its end.

  5. Reach the ending

Every story has two or three endings. Your hero leaves with items, gold and debts.

Places

You walk a place instead of reading about it

Every place has a map from above. The Master tells the story, and you choose where to go and what to touch.

  • A point on the map is the same button. The bar is for talking, the trapdoor for a peek, the chest for picking with a check.
  • Fog lifts as you go. A room shows up once the party has looked into it.
  • Fights happen at their spot. Enemies stand where you met them and take turns.
Your hero

Seven ready heroes, and any of your own

Take a ready hero and play right away: each has a portrait in all four art styles. Or build your own from nine species and seven classes, with a fear, a debt and a goal of their own. Level, items and debts carry over from game to game.

Art styles

Every story has its own art style

The author picks it first. The cover, place maps and hero portraits at the table are drawn in it.

Fantasy

Brushwork, firelight and deep shadow — like a fantasy novel cover.

Storybook

Ink and watercolour, warm and whimsical — like a book for the evening.

Cartoon

Funny and simple: big eyes, soft colors, lots of air.

Anime

Clean lines, flat shadows and soft pastel colors — like a frame from a Japanese anime.

Workshop

Write your own story — by hand or with the Agent

Pick an art style and a world, say what the story is about. The Agent drafts places, faces, clues and endings in a couple of minutes; the server checks it can be finished, and the Agent checks no secret slips out early. You’re the author — change anything by hand or in words. A finished story is played by everyone in the tavern.

The refugees can’t cross the river, and the bridge was burned last night. Someone on our side did it.

Agent · AIDraft ready: 4 places, 5 faces, 2 conclusions with 3 clues each, the “Mercenaries leave” clock and three endings. The arsonist is the outpost quartermaster; only the master sees his secret.

The server rolls the dice

The engine works out the result by the SRD rules; the Master only tells it. Every roll has a “why?”.

Lines and veils

Mark in your profile what never happens at the table and what stays off-screen. It works in every game you play, on every turn.

The X-card in one tap

If a scene feels wrong, tap it and the Master steers the story away, no questions asked. The Master and companions are marked as AI; the game is 13+.

With Amavie

Companions come from Amavie

The Master runs the game, and Amavie characters take the free seats: each has a character of their own, praising the bold and condemning the mean. For a heart-to-heart, talk to them in Amavie. One account for everything.

Questions

The short version

Is it free?

Yes, with no limits: no energy, no waiting timers. Only the Agent in the Workshop and extras like pictures are paid, and the price is always shown upfront.

Do I need to sign up?

Not for the first game: a ready hero, two companions and half an hour. To keep your hero and play on, sign in with Amavie.

What is SRD 5.2.1?

The open rules of the classic tabletop role-playing game under the CC BY 4.0 license. Rolls, combat and spells are worked out by them.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. One of you runs a campaign on a shared board: tokens, chat and server dice. Amavie companions take the free seats. An AI Master for a group of friends is coming soon.
